Teacher
Major influences on Tom Bentley-Fisher’s teaching approach include his training with Yat Malmgren at Drama Centre, London, and Sanford Meisner at Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. Tom currently leads the Yat-Bentley Centre for Performance in California's San Francisco Bay Area, and continues to teach internationally.
He began teaching at an early age, running the professional training program for actors and directors at the University of Waterloo, and since has taught extensively in theatre schools and drama departments across Canada. Tom's work is intense, muscular, and joyful - throughout his extensive career, he has gained a reputation for challenging actors, directors, and dancers to degrees of transformation and truthfulness they never thought possible.
Tom has conducted master classes around the world, for organizations such as the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, foolsFURY in San Francisco, Sala Beckett International Theatre Institute in Barcelona, and Arlequi Dance and Movement Centre in Banyoles, Spain.
